Thanks for such a nice information. Can you please clarify does this mean one can work only as a GP (MO) after an internship (house job) and registering under general category....

or one is also exempted from writing PRES for Trainee Specialist Division ?

And does our house job ful fills their criterion of one year internship?

aoa.house job quiery doesny need to be answered as it is already there.General Division means that u can work as anything other than a trainee..... to become a trainee u should either clear PRES or u should have, "started "FCPS training ( so registered with CPSP) .....then after getting general div through this route u can go for training in here

If u say about full FCPS then only Anaesthesia is recognized but to be considered as as working in a speciality after FCPS1 , u can u can use any of them...more over ur work in a particular speciality is also accepted by CPSP now..so for example if u are working in medicine in ireland and u did ur fcps1 in medicine u can use this as ur training exp for fcps as well.

to be honest ,this is the peak time to enter ireland...i am not sure about others specialities but u can easily enter into medicine BST here...though getting an SPR after 2 yrs is quite competetive ,but not impossible.

thanks for ur reply anjum bhai...can you please tell me that...
1) does doing MRCP 1 (UK) gives an edge while searching for a training spot in ireland ?
2) and if some has done MRCP 1 (UK) and he goes to ireland to join training program...will he be exempted from MRCP 1 ( ireland ) ?
thank you.

ONE CAN GET xemption from PRES only if he does( full MRCP Uk )and also then he ll be exempted from MRCPI part 1 only......no score of MRCP uk 1 for training as such ......as the recognize MRCP Ireland as compulsory for training rather than UK......
Seri......No exemption from Ielts.

i am a little confused here...are you saying we cannot begin BST without CPSP reg ? the RCPI website says to begin BST u need general reg or trainee reg, so general reg is good enough to begin BST ?

also can you plz tell us that is BST a must for writing MRCPI ? or can one get the required experience through other routine SHO contract jobs/ NCHD jobs as well ?

thank you

if you get exemption then u cant switch directly to trainee from genral div....u need to go through reg rules handbook for all these details.....and u can take MRCP anytime.no resriction as BST.

@anjum bhai...
did you appear in PRES or did you get exemption ? i believe you had some work experience in UK too before being to ireland ?

secondly...i have some confusion regarding PRES exemption on FCPS 1 basis...as registration booklet only mentions a few programmes from US, australia , singapore etc whose training is recognised....

APPENDIX J - HIGHER SPECIALIST TRAINING PROGRAMMES RECOGNISED FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXEMPTION FROM THE PRES (TRAINEE SPECIALIST DIVISION ONLY)
Participants in the following Six-month Rotation Residency Programmes are recognised for exemption from the PRES in accordance with the Rules Specifying Pre-Registration Examinations and Exemptions:
1. George Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, Missouri -and-
2. Dept of Neurosurgery, Beaumont Hospital/RCSI, Dublin
Specialty: Neurosurgery
Programme Content: Senior Registrar in Neurosurgery at level 5/6 on an accredited Neurosurgery Programme
Duration: Six months
Applicants must be on the residency staff of the Dept of Neurosurgery, Washington UH.
3. Department of Surgery, Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland -and-
4. Department of Surgery, Beaumont Hospital/RCSI, Dublin
Specialty: General Surgery
Programme Content: Appointed as an equivalent Senior Registrar (SpR) under the tutelage of a Consultant Surgeon, Beaumont Hospital
Duration: Six months
Applicants must be on the residency staff of the General Surgical Programme at Johns Hopkins UH.
5. GP Exchange Programme with GP Registrars in the Gippsland training scheme in Australia
Exchange programme for GP Registrars in the Gippsland training scheme in Australia.
Specialty: General Practice
Programme Content: Specialist training in General Practice primary care in accredited training practices in Ireland, overseen at all times by Irish trainers.
Duration: 2-3 months
Applicants must be on the Gippsland training scheme in Australia.
NO OTHER HIGHER SPECIALIST TRAINING PROGRAMMES ARE CURRENTLY RECOGNISED FOR EXEMPTION FROM THE PRES

i would highly appreciate your guidance...thank you
